January 2012 Shamanic Retreat!

Stalking Your Power

Stalking Your Power is a continuation of your shamanic healing journey. This weekend intensive is designed to help you move deeper into your own healing, and to prepare you to facilitate healing for others through shamanic practice. The class is divided into five sessions:

1. Fear and Power
2. Language and Power
3. Qi, Life Demands and the Shadow
4. Healing with Sound and Movement
5. The Healing Ceremony

Fear and Power
We begin with an opening ceremony of release, gratitude and intention. We then move into discussion and activities to explore our fears. Fear can be useful if we are in truly threatening situations. But when fear is a part of our decision-making process or how we chose to live our lives, it is a drain on our personal power and an obstacle to living an authentic and joyful life. We journey to teachers and healers to help us explore our fears, and to discover ways to shift from fear to faith.

Language and Power
Our journeys in this session focus on how we use language in our lives, and the impact of our language and the language of others on our personal power and energy. We journey to retrieve a healing chant and a power song for ourselves. We will also journey to retrieve healing words for a partner.

Qi, Life Demands and the Shadow
We are physical beings with subtle energy bodies.  The health and wellbeing of our physical body reflects our Qi, or life force energy. How we manage our qi determines whether or not the demands of our daily lives deplete us. Our ability to manage our qi can be tied to our shadows – thoughtforms, patterns, habitual behaviors that are a part of how we operate in life, but that we do not acknowledge in the light of our daily lives.

In this session we assess and name the demands on our qi and explore our shadows. We explore how we build and use energy, and create a map of the path our energy takes on a daily basis. We will determine which aspects of our physical life demand the most energy, and which build up our supply of personal power. We will learn how to work with these aspects of our lives as opposed to trying to eliminate these demands.

The Shadow. We will also meet a shadow guide who will help us work with those hidden aspects of self that influence how we move in the physical world. We will determine if these shadows are making life more difficult for us and how to recognize when we are reacting from the shadow. We will also create a preliminary plan to shift into a state of full awareness in our physical lives so that we might achieve balance and energetic wellbeing.

Healing with Sound and Movement
In this session we explore using movement and sound for personal healing and to facilitate healing for others. We will journey to find our guiding element – the element that is most healing for each of us at this point on our healing path. We will also explore how rattles, drums and other instruments can help facilitate healing. You will journey to find a movement sequence that you can use for meditation and healing.

The Healing Ceremony
We will learn how to journey to receive a healing ceremony. Each person will journey to receive a healing ceremony for herself and one for a partner. The afternoon will be spent performing these ceremonies. We will end the afternoon with a closing ceremony.
